Hyderabad: To meet the burgeoning demand for power supply and generation, "the Telangana state government will recruit nearly 40,000 engineers in the next 4 years", said D Prabhakar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director - TS GENCO and TRANSCO while addressing the engineering students on the Commencement Day 2015 of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET).

"Nothing moves without power and power does not move without engineers", he added. He said as the state gears up to meet the growing demand for power supply, the power generation capacity will be upped from 8500MW to 20,000MW in the next four years. Such an increase in power generation will create a natural demand for approximately 22,000 engineers, which will be likely filled by prospective engineers such as these engineering grads.

He also disclosed that the government will recruit nearly 2600 engineers to expand its workforce of 12,000 engineers hailing from various engineering disciplines already working for 4365MW power generation in the state. He congratulated the students and assured them of a brighter future. Srinivas Reddy, Vice President (Hardware), Wipro Technologies for India and Middle East, stressed on the changing dynamics of the business world, and how technology is driving innovations around the globe.

He said "the world has no patience for longer product cycles" urging the students to "be quick-paced and qualitative in materializing new ideas and innovations in the age of digital economy", an ever-changing era where competition by virtue of exploding growth in business verticals is unpredictable.

He advised the students to use SWOT (Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Trends) for self-introspection in every aspect of their life. In his exhilarating address, he encouraged the student to use their heart to choose their dreams, and pursue it with zest adding that thinking out-of-the-box could help them conceive a new breed of technological innovations including cars, aeroplanes and other machinery that will thrust the country forward with greater force.

Speaking on the occasion, Sultan ul Uloom Education Society Secretary Zafar Javeed said "Success is ignited with inspiration and nothing is achieved without perspiration". He advised the students to conceive their sojourn at college as a life-changing opportunity.
