Gurunanak Institution has unveiled an IT park in its campus, which is the first of its kind by an engineering institution in India. Telangana state IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao inaugurated the Nanak Institutions IT park- Digital Engineering Centre for Offshore and Domestic Enterprises (DECODE) and has also launched Third International Conference on Innovations in Computer Science and Engineering (ICICSE-2015) on Friday.

Rama Rao inaugurated the Nanak Institutions IT park- Digital Engineering Centre for Offshore and Domestic Enterprises (DECODE) and has also launched Third International Conference on Innovations in Computer Science and Engineering (ICICSE-2015) on Friday.

The IT park is designed to provide incentives to mid-range and upcoming companies, to set up their centres here and is also intended to provide employment to passed out students and part-time employment to students who are studying. The IT Minister appreciated the efforts of Guru Nanak Institutions and emphasised the need for intensive research in the area of Information Technology and Computer Science so that India will compete with the rest of the world in these fields.


He said, “In the days to come Telangana State will occupy the prime place in IT in India. He urged the students to be innovative”.He also pointed out importance of digital connectivity in today’s world and said “The government of Telangana will be laying fibre optic cable with the existing project of water supply around Telangana”.


“Due to the fibre optic cable, 8.5 million household across Telangana will be connected. The rural Telangana which constitutes about 60 per cent will be connected to the urban population”, he added. The main aim of the conference is to provide an interactive platform for the participants, professionals from the academia and industry. It also proposes to help share research expertise, experimental breakthroughs or vision in various areas of computer science such as Mobile Computing, Data Analytics etc.


The Vice-Chairman- Gurunanak Institutions- G S Kohli speaking on the occasion said, “The recent research talked about the poor employability skills of present engineers. More than 60 per cent of engineering pass outs from GNI, got placed last year and more than 20 per cent went for further studies and we hope that the remaining 20 per cent can get benefitted from the Existing DECODE IT park.
