The Andhra Pradesh government has identified sites and is providing land free of cost for setting up 11 Central institutions, including IIT and IIM, alloted to state under the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, the Legislative Assembly was informed today.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has identified sites and is providing land free of cost for setting up 11 Central institutions, including IIT and IIM, alloted to state under the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, the Legislative Assembly was informed today.


Classes have already started for the academic year 2015-16 for IIT, IISER, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said in a written reply. NIT and IIM classes would be starting from September 10 and 21 respectively, he added. The state government is pursuing with the Centre for starting of classes from the 2015-16 academic year in Central University at Anantapur and Tribal University at Vizianagaram.


The state government is also making efforts for early starting of AIIMS at Guntur, National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) at Vijayawada and Agriculture University at Guntur and Petroleum University in East Godavari district, Naidu said.
