HMV Institute of Vocational Studies, a unit of Hindi Maha Vidyalaya will be introducing two skill-based job-oriented courses from the current academic year. Chairman of HMV Surender Lunia, said on Tuesday that the University Grants Commission (UGC) had granted Hospitality and Tourism and Banking and Insurance courses to the college.

Hyderabad: HMV Institute of Vocational Studies, a unit of Hindi Maha Vidyalaya will be introducing two skill-based job-oriented courses from the current academic year. Chairman of HMV Surender Lunia, said on Tuesday that the University Grants Commission (UGC) had granted Hospitality and Tourism and Banking and Insurance courses to the college.


He said that UGC had introduced these courses last year and 75 colleges got the permission in the first year.“This year of the 500 colleges that had applied only 59 colleges from across the country were accorded permission. Besides HMV only Karimnagar can boast of such a college in Telangana State,” he said.


He said the courses offer 60 percent skill component and 40 percent general component, which includes communication skill, soft skill and computer training. Laxminiwas Sharma, secretary and correspondent of the college said that this year the last date of admission is October 15 and it will be semester-based co-education.


He said student who has passed 10+2 will be eligible for these courses, although there is no age limit. ‘Along with three year course we will be running six-month certificate course, one-year diploma course and two-year advance diploma course in both the subjects, he said. Principal Jyoti R Hastak and Treasurer Shyam Sunder Mundada were present on the occasion.
