Here is a startling revelation that comes from the premier body, Pearson, a company that introduces educational services to institutes has its presence in 70 countries and covers approximately 150 million people globally. Its most recent ‘Pearson Voice of Teacher Survey-2015’ released on Wednesday comes up with damning findings.

They spell bad tidings and present a gloomy picture considering that 64 per cent of students in Andhra Pradesh and 61 per cent of students in Telangana State lack the skills required to be employed in the field. The survey undertaken across the nation focussed on the key challenges in the education sector of India.

It was held in July and August with the respondents coming from various strata. According to a release by Deepak Mehrotra, Managing Director of Pearson India, the assessments are an attempt to facilitate holistic learning as opposed to the all-too-familiar subject-based learning.

The survey included findings from the teaching community in the two States-54 per cent in Andhra Pradesh and 50 per cent in Telangana State. They felt that the Indian Education Assessment Framework does not enable comprehensive development of students.

A sizeable number of teachers opined that high cost of technology installation posed a serious challenge for them. Meanwhile 66 per cent from TS and a whopping 72 from AP recommended computer and internet connectivity in all institutions in order to improve technology usage in the field of education.
