Nowadays we see every employer/Industrialist talking about inadequate availability of industry-ready students for induction in their organisation. What do they mean by this?

  • Industry ready , so that they can save on training costs
  • Industry ready in the sense that they do have the Learning ability , computer literacy , and service –or-job-orientation
  • Industry ready in the sense that they possess the required skills

Industry ready, means that because of the all-pervasive nature of the computer science, the students should be ready to take on ICT deployment responsibilities in the occupation in the related industry.

For this, the students of professional courses have to understand that each professional course prepares them for a particular hierarchy of posts (entry level, middle level, managerial or executive level and the top boss) in a particular profession in the industrial world.

The industrial world consists of various industries like the agro-products industry , edible oil industry, sugar industry , fisheries industry , mineral-based industries like , asbestos industry, barytes industry , copper industry , coal industry , information technology industry , bio-technology industry ,

power industry banking and financial industry , automobile industry , mfg industry and myriad other industries.While most of the courses are generally oriented broadly towards a particular profession, they are not Industry-specific;

the students have to be selected by the employers and bent towards the actual operations performed by an entry–level professional in that post.

This requires the employers to bear the training cost and impart the training to selected students. Secondly, with the application of information technology in every industry,

the employers want the students to be properly oriented and trained in the industry-specific or occupation–specific use of the application software and the operating software being used by them .

This is available in the market at high price and the Industries want the students to shelve this much high money undergo the training, module after module, and save the employers the cost of training.

You have to choose an industry, while pursuing the Course itself and when the examples of the processes and Industries where they exist, are discussed in the classroom. You have to choose the industry, depending on your interest in it, vicinity, status of its development and growth,

For example, a Mechanical Engineer can be General Mechanical Engineer or a specialist one like Tool Designer ,Machine designer , Production Engineer , Structural Mechanical engineer, Automobile Engineer , Aeronautical engineer , Marine Engineer , Naval Architect , Refrigeration Engineer, etc.

Similarly, a Chemical Engineer can find job as a Chemical Engineer, General or as a Designer Chemical Engineer-Paints and Varnish, - Drugs and Acids or -Petroleum Refining Engineer or – Fertilizers, Chemical Engineer -Food, Technologist- Paper, Oil Technologist, Technologist-Alcohol, Technologist-Rubber, etc.

The more popular categories of students of the Computer Engineering Courses or Computer Application Courses are treated as computing professionals.

Their work is to conduct research , plan, develop and improve , computer-based information systems , software and related concepts , develop principles and operational methods, as well as main data-dictionary and management systems, of databases, to ensure integrity and security of data.

On the whole, the student has to always ask, which is the Industry in which he/she can go to and in which entry level post he/she can apply.

Every entry level post indicates what will be the duties and responsibilities of the worker and what are the skills expected of him .
