Hyderabad: National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM), faculty along with students conducted competitions on Wednesday, as part of the World Tourism Day Celebrations.

Tourism quiz, essay writing on "one billion tourists & one billion opportunities” poster designing, photography, poster making, food tales, tourism debate, F & B challenge and cookery challenge were a few notable ones.

Many students from Culinary Academy of India, Regency College of Hotel Management, Sri. Shankti College of Hotel Management College apart from NITHM participated in large numbers.

The two day event concluded with a cultural program. The Chief Guest was Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu, IAS, MD of TSTDC and Director – NITHM.

In her message to the students she mentioned that the tourism sector has great opportunity for job placements, she told the students that presentability and soft skills are very essential in the service industry.

She encouraged all the budding students to take up Internship programs at the Telangana State Tourism Development Coorporation. Lastly she encouraged NITHM to become leaders in the hospitality and tourism industry.

The much awaited fashion parade by the students of NITHM showcased the cultural costumes of different states of India and few other countries of the world.

The eye catching event of the day kept the audience glued to the stage, after which the prizes for the two days competitions were distributed by the dignities on the dais.
