The students of mechanical engineering department of Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology developed a Multi-purpose Unmanned Ariel Vehicle (Drone), which is cost-effective and environmental-friendly that used the de facto standard aeronautical engineering techniques. Chairman of the institute, Vasireddy Vidya Sagar informed the press about this development on Monday.

Hyderabad: The students of mechanical engineering department of Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology developed a Multi-purpose Unmanned Ariel Vehicle (Drone), which is cost-effective and environmental-friendly that used the de facto standard aeronautical engineering techniques. Chairman of the institute, Vasireddy Vidya Sagar informed the press about this development on Monday.

He added that four students of Mechanical Engineering. K.Sai Kiran, .D.Nagasai Madhukar,.Ch.Dinesh, and.G.V.Subhash along with a student from III year Computer Science Engineering, .T.Nani Prasanth Kumar jointly performed this fete by investing just Rs.10000, in developing this drone which is named as Quadcopter.
He appreciated the students and wished them to excel in their further projects. The drone was manufactured with a ply-wood to make it lighter to handle avionics.100 KV BLDC motor, 2200mAh battery and a high resolution video camera were used in realizing this drone which can be operated with a remote.
Mr.Sagar informed that this drone can fly up to 200 feet and can carry 700 grams of weight over a perimeter of 600 meters. As a further enhancement to this project it can be upgraded as a surveillance set up over moving objects like vehicles by attaching a chip to them.
Students and Teachers from the departments of Mechanical, Civil and all other Engineering disciplines, Management members appreciated the laudable work done by the team of students who developed the drone. Director Dr.R.Naveen,. M Sree Krishna, Joint Secretary and Dr Y Mallikharjuna Reddy, Principal and Prof.PV.S.M.Kumar, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department congratulated them for their work, which is the primary outcome of their engineering education and advised all the other students also to perform on similar lines.
