Hyderabad: “Takers eat well. Givers sleep well. A person who gives much gets much more”, remarked Prof.S.S. Prasada Rao, Dean and Director, Hyderabad Business School (HBS), a constituent of GITAM University, today, addressing a gathering at “Joy of Giving”, the flagship annual event of HBS. The first year MBA students of HBS organised this event, in which they invited children from an orphan home, Asha Kuteer, and gave them a pleasant experience at the GITAM University, Hyderabad campus.

Prof. Prasada Rao said, Joy of Giving was introduced to students of HBS five years back to inculcate among them a sense of corporate as well as individual social responsibility. He exhorted the students to acquire the habit of ‘giving to society’ and not just addicted to taking from it. In his address, Sri D.V.V. S.R. Varma, Resident Director, GITAM University, Hyderabad Campus, appreciated the students’ commitment to this activity, which has been flourishing against the ‘law of diminishing returns’! The commitment levels of students are growing year by year.

Dr. M. Jayasree, faculty at HBS, and coordinator of the event, narrated a nice little story to the children with a message that we need to live in nature harmoniously and with mutual cooperation, and never think that we do not need some people. Mr. G. Jeevan Rao, Founder-Director, Asha Kuteer, expressed his gratitude to the students of HBS for extending their love and compassion to the children. He said the children should remind us how fortunate we are in our own lives.

The students of HBS brought the children to the campus, conducted different games, competitions and other activities for them, and gave away prizes to them. They had raised funds for the children’s benefit and donated the amount to the children’s home, on this occasion. The children, in turn, delighted their hosts with their talent in dance and singing.
