The 2015 G-20 summit will be the tenth annual meeting of the G-20 heads of government. It will be held in Antalya in Turkey on 15-16 November. Turkey officially took over the presidency of the G-20 from Australia in December 1, 2014 and China will preside over the organization in 2016.

The Summit of leaders from 20 top economies of the world is being held at a time when the global economic growth is slowing down. The refugee crisis is expected to dominate the G20 summit as leaders of the world’s largest economies gather in the port city of Antalya for the 10th annual gathering.

The Group of Twenty (also known as the G-20 or G20) is an international forum for the governments and central bankgovernors from 20 major economies. The members include 19 individual countries—Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China,France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States—along with the European Union (EU). The EU is represented by the European Commission and by the European Central Bank.

The G-20 was founded in 1999 with the aim of studying, reviewing, and promoting high-level discussion of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability. It seeks to address issues that go beyond the responsibilities of any one organization. Collectively, the G-20 economies account for around 85% of the gross world product (GWP), 80% of world trade (or, if excluding EU intra-trade, 75%), and two-thirds of the world population.[2] The G-20 heads of government or heads of state have periodically conferred at summits since their initial meeting in 2008, and the group also hosts separate meetings offinance ministers and central bank governors.

Leaders are expected to discuss the war in Syria in the latest attempt to forge a united response to the civil war that has left 250,000 people dead and up to 10 million displaced. However, with Moscow and Washington at odds over support for Syrian president Bashar al-Assad no formal meeting was scheduled between the US and Russian leaders, the White House said.
