The most successful evolution and colonization of man in the biome and its reason cannot be attributed simply to his intelligence alone. Another most important dimension that had contributed to his success is his uniqueness in not establishing any habitat specificity for himself. Man moved from the jungle, migrated to all parts of the globe such as dessert, cold planes, costal regions etc. Even in the land mass above and below the sea levels also, man has established his domain.

If we analyze the success of man from the point of view of biology or evolution, we can understand the fact that man has never adapted (conditioned) with any specific habitat. More than bringing a change in him to live in the particular habitat, man learns to modify the habitat to suite to his need.

Most animals and plants on the contrary have developed ‘selectivity’ to some habitats. They have adapted the most to suite to the habitat. Hence, any destruction of the habitat will necessarily cause death and destruction of all animals and plants as well in the given habitat/ecosystem.

Habitat selection and subsequent adaptation has several advantages as well as disadvantages also. The advantage being the plants or animals have well adapted to a habitat and hence no intruder can easily conquer their habitat as the intruder has to learn about the habitat, acclimatize or adapt and only then can develop the necessary techniques to settle over there. The main disadvantage is that the life of all such plants and animals would perish easily if they have to get relocated to a new habitat or their habitat is destroyed.

The success of a mosquito or cockroach will tell us how they have not limited to any special habitat (irrespective of quality of water they use for breeding) to become supremely successful.

Man also has shown such unique flexibility to become the ruler of the biome. But he is ruining the nature than ruling the nature. Man is indeed one of the most populated mammals in the planet.

The management message what the corporate employees has to learn from the above is the danger of ‘habitat’ selection. Many employees love to stick to a corporate and never ever venture to test or challenge their talents elsewhere. With time, they develop a mind set that they cannot survive elsewhere and hence would to continue in the same organization at any cost.

The question to be asked by every employee is that why they exhibit different human instinct in corporate habitat whereas in nature they have never chosen any particular habitat or have developed any affinity.

Is biological man is different from corporate man? Man outside the corporate is a different species from what he is in the corporate.

Success lies not in having strict or varied habitats but how one adapt is very important. Are you a part of your habitat or trying to make the habitat a part of your life style?
