New Delhi: The new education policy would help bring about many positive changes in the education system in the country and would equally benefit both students and their parents, the union government said on Monday.

"Initiatives like e-pathshala and 'Saaransh' will help the students and parents," Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said.

The minister said students would be empowered through the new education policy, and stressed that the consultative process included over 2 lakh gram panchayats, over 6000 blocks and several urban bodies.

Responding to a supplementary, she said results of better co-ordination between CBSE and state education boards will be seen from next year onwards. Her attention was pointed towards the different syllabi being followed by various state boards and the CBSE.

The 'e-pathshala' project has ensured that all CBSE books from class I to XII are available for free online and through a mobile phone application.

"The government has undertaken an unprecedented, collaborated, multi-stakeholder and multi-pronged consultation process for formulating the new education policy. The consultation process included online, grassroots and national level thematic deliberations," - Smriti Irani

"Under the e-pathshala programme, books will be made available online free of cost. These will be available on mobile phones also. Under another initiative, 'Saaransh', parents would be directly involved in the educational activities of their children and could get in touch with teachers directly through it,” she said.
