Learners Engagement Activity programme- 2015 has been conducted recently at Aurobindo International School, Hyderabad by Regional Centre- NIOS, Hyderabad. A gathering of 150 people, which includes students, parents, judges and several eminent people of the society, attended the programme.

Hyderabad: Learners Engagement Activity programme- 2015 has been conducted recently at Aurobindo International School, Hyderabad by Regional Centre- NIOS, Hyderabad. A gathering of 150 people, which includes students, parents, judges and several eminent people of the society, attended the programme.

Shri Anil Kumar, RD, RC, NIOS described NIOS activities in which AEP is an important one taken up by creating awareness on life skills. Later Mrs. Y. Bharathi, Assistant Director, RC Hyderabad briefed about the LEA and the activities of the day. The programme began with a Yoga session and all the students have actively participated which was followed by a video conference between NIOS Hqrs. and various Regional Centres. The Chairman, NIOS, along with the day’s Chief Guest, Biswajit Kumar Singh, I. F. S, Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti-NOIDA interacted with the centres on A-View. They responded to various questions and suggestions made by students of various Regional Centres.

Soon after the interaction the day’s events turned to various ON SPOT competitions for the students of NIOS on theme “Population and Development”.

Competitions:
1. Essay Writing: A large number of students took part in this completion by writing on various relevant topics like ‘I’m not going to be bullied’, ‘Indian Population a Boon not a Bane’ etc.

2. Poster drawing: As many as 35 students actively participated in this competition. NIOS Hyderabad supplied all necessary stationery to the students.

3. Survey: 7 students made their presentations based on their survey results on various topics like – Blood Groups of People and benefits of knowledge about it, educated population is the strength of the nation etc.

4. Role Play: There were two AI centres that came up with a total of 6 Role plays. They performed on themes like – Save girl child, Consumer Awareness etc.

Shri Anil Kumar Regional Director RC, Hyderabad welcomed the Chief Guest Shri. A.Y. Reddy, Deputy Commissioner, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, Secunderabad, Guests of Honour Shri. V. Nageswar Rao, Deputy Commissioner (Retd.), NVS, Dr. Chhalmai Reddy, Director, Sri Aurobindo International School, Hyderabad. The winners of the various competitions were distributed prizes, mementos and certificates. All the participants were given a certificate of appreciation along with a memento.

On being asked about the reflections, all the participants expressed their immense joy and gratitude for conducting such a programme, which, otherwise, is not possible in their lives of informal schooling. They all in unison requested the NIOS Hyderabad officials to conduct such programmes on regular basis. Parents felt that it was a great initiation from the NIOS authorities and they thanked the authorities thoroughly for the same. The entire programme was coordinated and compered by Smt. Y.
