The department of Orthoapedics of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram is organizing a three-day, “Sri Sathya Sai International Orthopedic Conference”, on the topic of “Ilizarov- ‘Evolution and Application’” in the hospital campus.
ILIZAROV-Evoluation and Applications
The department of Orthoapedics of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram is organizing a three-day, “Sri Sathya Sai International Orthopedic Conference”, on the topic of “Ilizarov- ‘Evolution and Application’” in the hospital campus.
The Ilizarov apparatus is a type of external fixation used in orthopedic surgery to lengthen or reshape limb bones; to treat complex and/or open bone fractures; and in some cases of infected non-unions of bones. It is named after the orthopedic surgeon Gavriil Abramovich Ilizarov from Russia, who pioneered the technique.
The conference is being attended by 6 eminent international faculty members from Russia, Italy, Brazil and Bangladesh and 7 eminent national faculty members, all experts in the Ilizarov method of treatment.
The highlights of the conference are the pre-conference hands-on workshop, four live surgical demonstrations, instructional course lectures, panel discussions and focused discussions on difficult Orthopaedic problems. The main focus of the conference will be dealing with complex limb deformities, infections, and trauma; also make the delegates aware of the Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s philosophy of totally free healthcare with love and compassion.
The guests of honour, senior members of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Sri K. Chakravarthi, Sri R.J. Rathnakar and Secretary SSSCT Sri Prasad Rao in their talks to the audience stressed on the uniqueness of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram, in providing totally free healthcare to all, completely free of charge and the need to follow the principles of Sai Ideal Healthcare.
The inaugural talk was presented by the Director of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr. Gurumurthy which followed a welcome address by Chairman of Orthopaedics of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram and the Director of SSSIHMS, Whitefield Dr. D.C Sundaresh.
