Bengaluru: 18 students of class XI and XII have bagged the prestigious Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2015 Fellowship. 13 students from Deeksha Network and 5 from Ace Creative Learning, have cleared the National Level Exam. The results were announced on Mon, 21st December.
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowships in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, aimed at encouraging students to take up research careers in the areas of basic sciences, engineering and medicine. The examination is conducted by Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru in two stages – first of which is a written aptitude test following which, students are shortlisted for the interview. Students in class XI, XII, or in the first year of any undergraduate program in Basic Sciences are eligible to apply for the Fellowship under SA/SX/SB categories respectively.

The KVPY Fellows receive generous scholarships up to the pre-Ph.D. level. Students in the 1st to 3rd years of undergraduate Basic Science courses, i.e., B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S., receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 5000 and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 20000. For students pursuing their post graduate courses in Basic Sciences, i.e., M. Sc. / 4th to 5th years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S, the respective amounts are Rs. 7000 and Rs.28000.
