Radhika rubs T’wood in a wrong way
It takes guts for an actress to criticise Tollywood and Radhika Apte did just that prior to the release of her film ‘Lion’. “It is a male dominant, male chauvinistic industry and it has become unbearable for me to work there. Actresses are not at all treated or cared about well,” she had said describing Tollywood and the way it operates. Well this statement didn’t go well with “mana makers” who have decided to shun her. The actress has even abstained from promoting ‘Lion’.
Never ending story
The rumours surrounding Puri Jagannadh’s affair with Charmme gained precedence mid this year after the former was spotted controlling latter’ office affairs during the promotions of ‘Jyothi Lakshmi’. While she left the office after Puri lost a plum project, she surfaced again, much to the chagrin of high-end office employees.
The mega withdrawal
It was last year that Chiranjeevi dropped a hint, saying he would kick-start his 150th film this year. The matinee idol who took eon to finally choose his director and the script has called it off in the last minute. Reason? The second half of the Puri Jagannadh script was far from convincing. Nonetheless, the much-vaunted comeback did happen in his son Ram Charan-starrer ‘Bruce Lee’ but in a small part. Well, the response to it was loud but the film’s performance ensured that it went largely unnoticed. It’s 2016 for Chiru.
Script wars
Writer Kona Venkat and director Sreenu Vaitla, after parting ways two years ago, came together for ‘Bruce Lee’, courtesy the film’s star Ram Charan. But wait, the film didn’t turn out to be what Kona wrote. The ace writer, in a presser, stated that had Vaitla used 72 scenes that he wrote for the film, the films’ fate would have been different. Kona even went to the extent of filing an ` 10 crore defamation suit against his former friend but alas it wasn’t the case.
RGV and his tweets
Even since he shifted base to Hyderabad three years ago, mercurial Ram Gopal Varma has been on a tweeting spree, targeting mega family in particular. From advising Chiru to do an original screenplay (instead of Kaththi remake) for his full-fledged acting return to making fun of ‘Bruce Lee’ title, Varma’s acidic tirade against mega family continued this year too.
Not to forget, he had some good tweets for ‘Baahubali’, ‘Srimanthudu’, Raj Tarun and Varun Tej. Towards the end, he was in the news for his comments on Sridevi’s thighs, ‘Killing Veerappan’ and shutting shop in Tollywood.
For the love of Chennai
Chennai which has been ripped to shreds by the torrential rains left many Tollywood personalities shaken. From donating big sums from their own pockets to leading a mission Manamadraskosam, our actors and technicians were at the forefront to do their bit to the city which was once the epicenter of Tollywood. Well played mates!
