Prime Minister’s push to revive the scene of entrepreneurship in India received lion’s share of attention after the initiation of Start Up-India in January this year. It is a dedicated program aimed at ensuring that young and budding entrepreneurs have the required assistance and help from the government and other channels in case they face obstacles. To keep up with this initiative, Government of Haryana, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, in association with the Start Up Accelerator and Information Chamber of Commerce recently organized a Start Up Boot camp for ‘HAPPENING HARYANA’ at The NorthCap University premises. Three teams from the University were selected to participate in the Weekend Start up competition, scheduled to be held 4-6th March at The NorthCap University in Gurgaon.
With emphasis on creating job providers rather than job seekers, the camp received earnest response from enthusiasts. The camp which was held at University’s campus received response from 60 up-and-coming entrepreneurs. They were divided into 7 teams after their registration. Each team was given a duration of fifteen minutes to come up with a viable business plan, and discuss about its feasibility with the jury. The teams presented the innovative ideas like app for automated parking system, for helping dumb people, how to track lost things etc. After careful deliberation amongst themselves, the jury selected three teams. The selected teams will move forward, and participate in the Weekend Start up competition. The top teams will be felicitated by the Chief Minister of Haryana on 8 March 2016 at Happening Haryana Summit 2016,The Leela Ambience, Gurgaon. Chief Minister’s torch was also lighted which continues its journey around various colleges and Universities across 22 Districts of Haryana.
The students from the winning teams at NCU, Akash Lal, Naveen Chauhan and Abhishek Rathi shared their experience and said that the competition was a learning experience for them. Start Up India is a nice initiative by the government and this will help in reducing the issue of unemployment. Mr. Sumeer Walia, the Executive Director of Start up Accelerator and Information Chamber of Commerce was highly impressed with the students’ enthusiasm performance and complemented the Vice Chancellor for taking a lead role in this direction.
