Coimbatore: ICICI Academy For Skills, an arm of ICICI Foundation, will definitely achieve its target of training 1 lakh youths by 2017, a top official said. ICICI Academy For Skills had launched 'Gift A Livelihood' in October 2013.

The Academy, with 22 centres across the country, has trained 25,000 youths last year and expected to train another 40,000 this year -- 25,200 trained till December 2015, its Chief Operating Officer Chinmay Sengupta told reporters, who were on a visit to the Centre here.

In an audio conference from Mumbai, the COO said since the training programmes were going as per schedule, it was certain that the academy would achieve the target of training one lakh youths by 2017.

Stating that the academy was aiming to provide relevant and practical training to the underprivileged youth in 13 disciplines, he said it has tied up with various industry leaders and co-created the course curricula and content.
