Indeed it is more necessary to make the child to cope up with ISQ skills which are I = Interaction, S= Self-Expression and Q= questioning, as it is compulsory to make him play with his own language with ease

Seamus Heaney rightly remarked that “If you have the words, there’s always a chance that you’ll find the way”. But the 80% engineering graduates of two Telugu states are facing an acute famine of words to communicate and firmly discarded by the employers. The prime reason for this pathetic development is purely our students were not exposed to the situation in which their self expressive skills flourish.

Though there was a sea of change in the education system and the Himalayan growth of corporate schools with luxurious ambience in all fronts still this problem haunts. There is a misconception that medium of school plays an important role in improving communication skill and the parent tribe running after that mirage.

It was noticeable that all our distinguished contemporary English writers like Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Ampasayya Naveen were received their primary and secondary education in Telugu medium and studied English as a language. When we go through their literary works it provides evidence that qualitative exposure to the situations has improved their ability of expression.

So, it is very hypothetical conclusion to draw that establishment of English medium schools will enhance the communication greatly. Recent Oxford University survey has also revealed the fact instruction in mother tongue makes the child more communicative instead short of words. There is no secret the teaching of language in a perfect manner has become an illusion in secondary and in Intermediate and the student just considering it as a subject for achieving decent GPA.

It is not correct opinion to exterminate the Telugu medium schools for establishing English medium schools in two Telugu states. No one can question the want of the English language as an intercontinental and as a job providing source but that mania should not annihilate the mother tongue which has blessed a cultural identity for Telugus.

We should have to learn from the efforts of our neighbouring states Tamilnadu and Karnataka which are striving to preserve the cultural identity through promoting their mother tongue. So, like them the two Telugu states should have to promote the mother tongue and as well as English simultaneously by exposing them to meaningful learning situations.

One should not forget the remark of Tagore on mother tongue “Language is the true vehicle of self –expression. Man can freely express himself in his mother tongue”. So, it is more opt to expose our children to language to express more effectively in any language.
