Hyderabad: Anglo Schools International Services (ASIS), the UK education services company that has been operating in India for the past two years, has announced a major expansion of its activities and the securing of agreement to support one of the first public-private school development projects in Andhra Pradesh.

ASIS will partner the Priyadarshini Education Group to develop a British-style K-12 school on a 15 acre site provided by the Andhra Pradesh State Government in Visakhapatnam. The school will follow an international curriculum and be staffed by senior UK trained teachers. Its holistic curriculum, involving leadership and character development, will follow the “schools of warm heartedness” approach, pioneered by ASIS founder David Boddy.

The contract coincides with a second major move by ASIS in India. After two years of trials in partnership with Pearson VUE, the world’s leading computer-based testing company, ASIS has launched the International Academic Performance Index, which gives Indian schools an opportunity to be rated against a global standard.

The initiative draws on the California experience of driving school improvement through a snap-shot testing regime followed by sustained school improvement strategies. ASIS has adapted the on-line British Universities & Secondary Schools Achievement Tests – BUSSATs - for use in Indian schools.

A follow-through school improvement programme, involving teacher training and school leadership development, is applied to support those schools in India that seek greater national and international recognition.
