Some people wear only custom-made (tailor made) clothes only (not the ready-made), and possess only custom-built things though it may not be their custom. You have to pay customs duty if you bring certain goods into the country. Custom has many meanings. As a noun, custom refers to doing things or behaving in a manner that has been long established in the society (It is a custom in India to look after elderly parents, and it is a custom of the eldest son to look after his parents).

Different countries have different customs. What are the customs of Chinese? But it is not a custom to have one child but a law. Custom refers to a habit that one does habitually, that one practices. People who have the custom of rising early usually get done more things than the late risers; and in a better way.

Custom means regular purchase from someone. Restaurants usually patronise their regular customers because they seek their custom i.e. to visit regularly. Custom an adjective refers to something made or done as the buyer wants it, not like the standard model or things produced on an industrial scale.
