Mogulescu, Ph.D -Yale University, of City University, New York, USA, (also Supervising Attorney, Legal Aid Society) on the topic “Criminal Justice Advocacy for Survivors of Trafficking” on February 18 at ICFAI University campus, Hyderabad.

Prof Kate who is associated with “Exploitation Intervention Project” that identifies various problems regarding the victims of human trafficking said in her address that human trafficking is a serious problem which should be corrected through criminal justice advocacy programs at various levels from human rights perspective.

US laws on Trafficking passed in 2000 are in force and according to her victims of labour trafficking, sex assault and domestic violence are badly in need of advocacy to enforce their constitutional and statutory rights.

While focusing on the Indian situation Prof Kate opined that India also facing many problems in addressing the grievances of victims of human trafficking in spite of constitutional and statutory framework dealing with the offenders and abettors of human trafficking. She has noticed that in India there is a shifting of policies and law in their favour.
