The NorthCap University, Gurgaon in association with SAE Club organized first of its kind tech fest ‘SAKSHAM 2016’ at the North India level. More than 250 students from NCU, IP University Delhi, GD Goenka University, IEC Noida, DPGITM Gurgaon, Dronacharya Engineering College, Gurgaon, Amity University, Manesar, SRM University, Manesar, and BRCM, Bhiwani participated in the 3-day fest. The theme for the fest was MAKE IN INDIA and Rakesh Sood, Managing Director, Trim India graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
On the first day of the fest students from various colleges showcased their projects in automotive and technical field. The winners for the project display were given cash prizes from SAE Club. Team Electro Tech from The NorthCap University won the first position for their project- Automated Parking System. The team members were Sahil Saini (team captain) Karan Malhotra, Chaitanya,and Kulbhushan. They won cash prize worth Rs 9000. Team from KIIT won the second position for their project – Bomb disposal robotic tank. They won cash prize worth Rs 8000. Team from GD Goenka University secured third position for their project-Efficycle and won cash prize worth Rs 7000. Team DPGITM, Gurgaon got the fourth position for their project Hydraulic sub highway. This team won cash prize worth Rs 6000.
Many technical events were organized on the second day of the fest including Drone designing, techno quiz, Aeromodelling, Cross bow, treasure hunt, archery etc. Drone designing provided a real-world aircraft design experience for the students by giving them the opportunity to validate their analytic studies. The students designed, fabricated, and demonstrated the flight capabilities of an unmanned, electric powered, radio controlled aircraft that can best meet the specified mission profile. In treasure hunt, the teams/individuals were given a coding which they had to decode and find clues.
On the last day TSD car rally i.e, Time, Speed Distance Rally in which 12 participants drove their cars across a 30 KM route in Gurgaon. Students, teachers and working professionals in pairs were given a road book which had all the instructions regarding directions, distance and time. Navigator played an important role here. She/he kept calculating the Speed based on Time and Distance figures given in the Road book and guided the driver. The formula used for the same was Speed = Distance/ Time. The winners were:
1st position- Neeraj Panghal and Vansh Baliyan, The NorthCap University
2nd position Saurabh Thapar and Ritika Sharma, The NorthCap University
3rd position Aryan Chikara and Akash Lathwal, The NorthCap University
