Hyderabad: The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) on Monday extended the last date for Eamcet registrations to March 30. Earlier, the last date for applying was March 28.

Council of Higher Education chairman P Papi Reddy on Monday said the Council had received several representations to extend the last date for registrations for Eamcet and accordingly it was extended.

Now candidates can register for the entrance examination without a late fee till March 30 and students applying after the deadline would have to cough up Rs 500 towards late fee charges.

Meanwhile, as many as 2,33,368 applications were received for the Eamcet-2016 till the last count on Monday. As many as 1,35,629 candidates applied for engineering stream, 95,817 for agriculture and medical stream and 961 for both engineering and agriculture and medical streams.

Going by the local area wise, as many as 1,77,097 applications were received from the State (Osmania University local area) and 29,599 applications from Andhra University region (Andhra Pradesh).

Similarly, as many as 18,257 applications were received from Sri Venkateswara University Region (AP). As many as 8,415 non-local candidates also applied for the entrance test. The Eamcet would be held at 15 regional centres in the State and also at four regional centres in Andhra Pradesh on May 2.
