Maulana Azad National Urdu University implements hostel reforms

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University has started implimenting reforms in its hostels to facilitate proper allotment of rooms to the students. According to Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, draft regulations of Hostel Manual 2016-17 have been approved in a meeting attended by the Deans and Heads of the Departments. Students need to vacate their rooms before proceeding on summer vacations so as to enable fresh allotment.

University has asked the students to submit a fresh application for availing hostel facility during the new academic year. Vice-Chancellor has pointed out that the agreement signed by the students at the time of admission clearly stipulates these provisions. According to Clause 2 of the agreement, hostel accommodation is valid for single academic session only. Clause 3 mentions that fresh application will have to be filled up for next year accommodation. Clause 4 states that the university reserves the right to increase the hostel fee, if necessary. And clause 25 makes it clear that hostel room shall be vacated during summer vacation.

The Vice-Chancellor, while clarifying that the new manual has been approved jointly by the Heads of the Departments, says it is in the greater interest of the student fraternity. Hostel accommodation was not properly allotted in the past, he pointed out. Now onwards this would be linked with the academic performance of the students and other genuine factors. Vice-Chancellor has appealed to the research scholars to support these reforms so as to provide proper accommodation to the newcomers. Vacating the rooms during summer vacation will also ensure proper maintenance of hostel facility.
