Speaking to TimesJobs.com, Kanika Gupta, HR Manager, Cube26 shared that in order to build sustainable companies and fill the growing talent gap, there is an urgent need for qualified women at all levels in tech community.

According to a study by Development Dimensions International, organisations that have 30 per cent of women in leadership roles are 12 times financially more successful.

However, the reality is that women talent crunch was cited as one of the key reasons for not being able to have balanced women representation at the corporate leadership level.

“Tech companies should actively work towards attracting and retaining the best women talent. Now that women have started taking up tech related roles, employers need to make sure that they stay and grow. Structured programs designed specifically to empower women also help employees to learn and grow. We see a great potential in women excelling in technology related roles,” said Gupta.

Hot roles for women in tech startups

In tech startups, demand for women talent can be seen across managing roles ranging from technology (frontend, backend, data science, UI/UX designers) , to operations & marketing.

Gupta mentions that they are excited to witness that female tech talent in start-ups is growing at a rapid pace. At Cube26, they have majority of women working in technology roles as android developers, data scientists, and embedded systems engineers.

Popular high-paying jobs in technology sector

With an increase in technology start-ups, job profiles related to technology are in huge demand. However, the general trend in startups is that the compensations are more performance based rather than just roles.

The reason behind this is the nature of work responsibilities, i.e. usually in startups employees juggle between different roles and are often give bigger tasks at a very young age. This trend is prevalent across all departments and roles, which in turn leads to higher pay scale throughout.

Android App Developers:

With Android being omnipresent in India owing to the increase in the number of Smartphones and availability of Stock android to work on different applications in the OS, there is an inevitable need for Android developers. Start-ups are aggressively looking out for creative app developers who can bring ideas to life on a mobile device.

Data Scientists:

Data Science has the potential to augment the reasoning capabilities of both software & hardware products and empower them to make better informed real-time decisions. This makes opportunity in data science one of the hottest jobs in the technology sector today. In 2016-17, smart machines and cognitive systems will form the foundation for enhancing speed of access to information and personalising customer experiences.

UI/UX designers:

UX Designers combine their research and design skills together to understand the user needs and produce concepts/solutions/designs that people want to use. UI Developers fill the middle ground by combining both design sensibilities and technical skills together. They are skilled at making something both look good and function in a browser/device at the same time.

However apart from the above mentioned job roles, none of the other critical tech roles can be ignored as each role has its own unique responsibilities and salary structure.
