It is often believed that the top bosses and CEO’s are highly balanced, level headed, cool and will react only slowly to most of the corporate affairs. But quite contrary to that, most people below the rank are reasonably volatile, vociferous, short tempered and react quickly. The question is does that the so-called balanced state of the top bosses and CEO’s indicates their maturity and leadership superiority that rest in the corporate? And if so, then can the managers if tame their mind could become great leaders?

Non-reactiveness or less reactive behaviour or level-headedness or cool temperament of people cannot be taken as an indicator or as a sign of maturity or superior leadership quality. Such people need not be matured leaders at all. A possible reason for people to be less reactive incorporate is more due to the fact that they have nothing to loose or worry and that is why they are not reacting to the situation. This is true with most corporate leaders.

The other possibility is that most corporate leaders are simply lazy and hence do not want to waste their energy by reacting to most of the issues in corporate.

It is always said that objects with greater mass will be in a greater state of inertia. Naturally, due to the highest position and rank, the inertia state of CEO’s and top leaders in corporate are likely to be high. The small incidents that can be sufficient to rock the managers but such incidents may not have force or energy sufficient enough to alter the inertia state of CEO’s and hence, they are less reactive.

Although such less reactive state of CEO’s and top leaders either due to their laziness (inertia state) or due to the fact that they have the least stake in most of the corporate affairs (not worried and or affected by the issues), offers some level of stability to the corporate. Imagine, if CEO’s and people in the top management also become volatile like most people in manager cadre and easily get intimidated by every issue in corporate, the corporate may not progress. The family owned organizations, organizations that are directly governed by the owners and entrepreneurs always suffer from such disease.

The point is that most corporate are reasonably stable only because of laziness (state of inertia) and indifference of CEO’s and top leaders to most of the issues. Only due to the physics of objects with greater mass would reach a greater state of inertia, the CEO’s are less reactive, it means, small issues does not have sufficient energy and force to change the inertia state of CEO’s.

Never believe or conclude that your CEO’s and people in the top leadership cadre in your corporate are less reactive therefore they have matured leaders. The less reactive nature of people has nothing to do with mental maturity and quality of leadership.
