India is striving for creation of sustainable and quality jobs for country’s huge working age population, said Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, at G- 20 Labour and Employment Ministerial Meeting in China on Tuesday.

Listing generating adequate job opportunities as Government of India’s top priority, the Minister said India recognises that employment generation is the only sustainable policy response to poverty alleviation which is also the first goal of the 2030 Agenda. Employment generation preferably in formal sector with well-paid jobs and adequate social security ensures inclusiveness and lesser inequality in the labour market and leads to sustainable development goal of Decent Work and Economic growth, he explained.
Accordingly, to bring job seekers, employers and training providers on a common platform with efficient use of information technology, National Career Service (www.ncs.gov.in) portal has been launched. The portal has already collaborated with various private platforms like Monster and Uber. Recommendations to make NCS as the single platform for posting government jobs is under consideration. The initiative has successfully registered 40 million job seekers, one million job providers and 100 thousand vacancies have also been posted since July 2015.
NCS brings together jobseekers, career counselors, skill providers and employers. It seeks to cover all job opportunities. The platform provides information on over 3000 career options. One can search jobs from over 53 key sectors- from IT to textiles, construction to automobiles. If you are an employer looking for the right talent, NCS is the right place to be looking in. Job seekers can seek an appointment with experts providing career-related counselling. Counsellors are also encouraged to offer their services at NCS. Latest Job fairs and career exhibitions are listed on the portal.
The platform can be built for specialized service providers like plumbers, electricians, carpenters etc location-wise. People can look for these service providers at one location.
