Suncity World School, Gurgaon celebrated sports day at its campus recently with much more fanfare and extravaganza. The event started with the Welcome address to the parents and the Chief Guest of the event Ms. Manika Batra, Indian Table Tennis. The children from standard III to XI participated in the various competitions. The School understands the importance of sports and accordingly the children here are exposed to best practice equipment under the able guidance of trained physio’s.

The PYP & MYP segment had a broad spectrum of exciting events lined up. The March Past had students marching in perfect synchronization to the beats of the marching school band. The Sir Walter Raleigh Race (CLASS III), Foot loose Race (CLASS III), Spherical Conical Race (CLASS IV Girls), Spherical Conical Race (CLASS IV Boys), Flip Flop Race (CLASS IV) amongst several others ensured enthusiastic participation of the little children.

The PYP & MYP had field and track events as Taekwondo drill, Cycling Race (CLASS VII Boys), 200m Hurdles Race (CLASSES VIII & XI Boys), 200m Hurdles Race (CLASSES VIII & XI Girls), 4X100m Relay Race (CLASS VII), 4X100m Relay Race (CLASSES VIII & XI). The spectators cheered the participants as they raced to the finishing line with athletic passion. The highlight of the event was the parent races which won loud rounds of applause amidst good cheer and camaraderie.

Speaking on the occasion the Principal Mrs. Rupa Chakravarty said, “We believe in the ideology of Swami Vivekanand wherein he has said that the youngsters should spend time on the football ground. Academic excellence is indeed necessary but at the same time we should not forget that a healthy body ensures a healthy mind.”

The program concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein the sports enthusiasts were appreciated for their talent and skills.
