The Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), is to become a full-fledged University soon. IFMR Chennai, now in Sri City, which has been a preferred destination for students aspiring for cutting edge management education, received letter of intent from the Andhra Pradesh State government for a Private University.

Known for its policy-oriented research work in development economics and finance,IFMR has successfully created a niche in the management education and is consistently ranked among the top B Schools of the country including CRISIL ratings.

After operating from its Chennai campus for the past four and half decades, IFMR relocated to its new sprawling 40 acre campus in Sri City near Chennai, situated in a global manufacturing hub comprising some of the world’s leading companies.

“We shall remain focused on our flagship full-time PGDM program – which over the last few years is shaping into truly all round B’ School with increasing number of students specializing in Marketing, HR, Information Systems and Operations. Last year we introduced two new specializations BFSI & Data Science (Business Analytics), and I am very happy that both have been very well received by Corporates as evidenced in our placements this year. Over the years, we are known to have a rigorous Ph.D. program and our recent alumni are joining IIMs and IITs as faculty members. With University status we shall gradually introduce courses like B.B.A, MA (Development Studies) and MA (Economics) from the academic year 2017-18. Admissions for the new courses will open shortly,” said, Prof. Dr. P. K. Biswas, Director at IFMR.

“Placements at IFMR have been getting better year on year. Our average salary went up from Rs 8 lakh in the 14th batch (graduated in 2015) to Rs 8.5 Lakh in the 15th batch (graduated in 2016). Correspondingly the highest salary went up from Rs 12.5 Lakh to Rs 14.5 Lakh (including variable pay). Over 3/4th of the 16th batch has already been placed and this year’s numbers are even more impressive. Apart from our world class faculty, and fully wi-fi campus, with every possible sports facility, it is our placements that continue to attract high quality applicants to our PGDM program, said Prof. Suresh Venkatraman, Chairperson Admissions, IFMR.

Applications are open for the 2017 -19 batch for PGDM. To apply to IFMR one has to sit through CAT 2016 / XAT 2017 / CMAT 2017 / GMAT or GRE. Various scholarships based on merit and merit-cum-means are offered to students. More information on admissions can be obtained from www.ifmr.ac.in or [email protected]; Phone: 9385021777.
