Enhance personal productivity via automation
We all keep doing things that are repetitive in nature. A repetition of a framework or a way-of-doing-things is recommended to have in life; however, a repetition that is administrative in nature is automated in this information age. No wonder, repetitive tasks are getting automated at the speed of thought and we have jobless people in the market with very little skills that are creative in nature.
So, always think about the cost of rinse and repeat. You are spending so much time doing really boring administrative tasks that you don't realise that the time can be spent doing something fun like lazing around or simply doing something you like.
Here are the top things that you don't have to rinse and repeat:
Filling Forms: On an average we keep giving our information to businesses and other entities, just to register, submit, apply, or subscribe. The information in the forms are almost always repetitive (think, name, DOB, address, education, etc). Now, how can you avoid repetition of tasks? Use Google forms, papwork.com, typeform.com, and surveymonkey.com. That's how you ensure you don't have to fill a form again with repetitive data. Make sure to use autofill and autocomplete application in your browsers. It saves a lot of time.
Status Meetings: The purpose of these meetings is to understand what the other person is doing. Earlier, face-time with the manager was a really big deal as that lead to better appraisals and so on and so forth. However, in this day and age, status meetings are one of the biggest time-drains because we have the best tools in the market to get the right statues from our subordinates and escape these meetings. So, if you are a leader, who meets their subordinates every day about their statuses, you must reconsider and automate. Some of the best examples of automating status meetings are via asana.com and evernote.com.
Data Sharing: Now we have plenty of things like storing our photos on our pen drives/SD drives, and we do plenty of sharing a post from Facebook to Instagram to Twitter. Well, you can share it at one place and have the same post shared at multiple platforms; why repeat the process of sharing the same information. Go automate all your data sharing tasks via iftt.com or buffer.com or socialpilot.co.
I hope you understand that if you examine your days and take the time to automate some of your repetitive tasks, you'll free up a lot of your time and make the best use of it doing something worthwhile. Cheers to avoiding rinse and repeat tasks going forward. Personal productivity via automation for the win.
