The famous ski resort of Gulmarg, which is thronged mostly by tourists in winter, received the most snowfall, 23 cm, in the Kashmir Valley.

In the Jammu region, Batote received the most rainfall at 24 mm.

The weather office has forecast rain and snow at a few places in the state on Saturday.

"However, precipitation is likely to decrease from Sunday morning onwards," a weatherman said.

The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 1.8 degrees Celsius, while in Jammu it settled at 9 degrees.

The Met Office has forecast a few spells of rain accompanied by thundershowers in Jammu later in the day.

"There are chances of fog enveloping most parts of Jammu tomorrow (Sunday)."

The maximum temperatures in Srinagar and Jammu are likely to hover around 8 and 15 degrees Celsius respectively.
