Serpentine robots to perform undersea maintenance

Norwegian company Eelume has produced a snake like eel-robot which performs maintenance task undersea.In a bid to produce more such serpentine robots, Eelume has partnered with Norwegian companies Statoil and Kongsberg Maritime to fast-track production.

The robots are programmed to live on the seafloor and do the cleaning job.

It also keeps a check on undersea equipment and performs simple tasks like tightening loose valves with their clamp-like mouths, the Verge reports.
