Hyderabad: A total of 15 fresh heat-related deaths had been reported in Telangana since Wednesday, taking the toll to 137 since the beginning of the summer season, the State Disaster Management Department said on Thursday. “The toll has gone to 137 during this season. Maximum 34 deaths were reported (so far) from Medak district,” an official from the department told reporters.

Besides Medak, 30 deaths in Mahbubnagar, 26 in Nalgonda, 10 in Ranga Reddy, 7 in Khammam, 13 in Karimnagar, nine in Adilabad and eight deaths in Nizamabad were reported so far, the official added. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is scheduled to hold a review with district collectors on Friday on the drought conditions.

There was marginal reduction of maximum temperatures in most parts of the State and it was likely to continue on Friday also, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. “There is no heat wave warning on today. There is one degree Celsius drop in temperature. It may continue tomorrow also. However, temperatures may go up if the wind pattern changes,” IMD-Hyderabad Director Y K Reddy said. Ramagundam and Nizamabad might record maximum temperatures of 43 degrees Celsius, he said.
