To take stock the flood situation in the state by aerial survey, the Union Home minister said that, the situation is more worsened.

“Over 36 lakh people of 28 districts have been affected in the fresh flood in the state and a total of 26 people died. The centre will help the state government to tackle the problem,” Rajnath Singh said.

“I appealed to the state government to use Rs 620 crore under SDRF for the flood affected people in the state. The state government has sent us a memorandum and the centre will extend help to the state government,” the Union Home minister said.

Replying a question of declaring Assam flood as the National problem, Singh said that, it is not the solution of year long flood and erosion problem as declaring National problem.

“We need an action plan to solve the problem permanently,” Rajnath Singh said.

The Union Home minister had conducted an aerial survey in flood-hits Morigaon, Nagaon and Kaziranga National Park with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and DoNER minister Jitendra Singh.

Rajnath Singh also met the inmates at a relief camp in Morigaon district.

The Union Home minister had discussed the flood situation and security related issues in the state with Assam CM, top officials of the state government and security agencies at Borjhar airport.
