Adah the female lead of the recent hit film in Telugu, ‘Heart Attack’ sports a sexy bohemian look even as there is less skin show. Archa Mehta the designer behind the look has studied fashion in London. “I always wanted to be a designer. After completing my fashion designing course, I worked on over 50 advertisements and did styling for magazines as well. I also worked with couple of brands like ‘pantaloons’.”
Currently she is juggling between Bollywood and Tollywood and in her silent way is making big waves in the fashion industry. “I worked in two big director movies. Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Monsoon Shoutout’ and the big hit of 2013 ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela‘ by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In ‘Monsoon Shoutout’ I designed the costume for the whole caste and in ‘Ram-Leela’ I designed for Ranveer Singh,” shares Archa.
About her experience with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “Being a director he not only concentrates on direction but he observes minutely our costume designing too. You will learn many things from him.”
Talking about the film ‘Heart Attack’ “I have styled for the complete film... for Adah and all the other secondary cast and it was a very good experience. Puri sir is such an unabashed director and gives you full liberty creatively. He only said, “Archa, make my actress look breathtaking, do something different, something the audience has not seen before.” I have given her a sexy bohemian look while still keeping her innocent looks. I have managed to make her look glamorous without actually showing much skin. The whole film has been styled high on fashion and style with a fresh gypsy boho look.”
“What was challenging for me was that there were three more girls in the movie and all had to look different. Nicole is the sexy hippy siren; Kesha is the classy pretty girl and Teju was the one with peppy look. Puri sir even wanted his villain Vikramjit to look like a handsome bloke not some repulsive Gunda. I styled for hero Nithin in the song “tu hi hai” and worked on giving him deep intense looks,” she adds.
