TD seeks steel plant for Telangana

Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday changed his tack and sought that a steel plant should come up at Bayyaram near Khammam. Participating in a TDP protest at Gun Park opposite Assembly, Naidu stated that Bayyaram steel was the right of tribals of the area.

''We will raise the issue in the Assembly and press the government for constructing a steel plant in that area where resources are abundant'', he said.

Naidu alleged that then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy had cheated tribals and deprived them of their food. The government, he said, should protect the interest of the tribals by constructing a steel plant, Naidu demanded.
