Special flight to Hyd today New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday arrived in the Capital to personally oversee relief operation for the victims of the floods fury in Uttarakhand. He mingled with the returnees at AP Bhavan and promised them all possible help for their safe return. He also called on Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and is said to have apprised him of the political developments in the State. 
The Chief Minister raised the relief amount to the victims to Rs 5,000 from Rs 2,000 each. A special aircraft will be operated on Wednesday directly from Dehradun to Hyderabad. He also issued instructions to officials to make travel arrangements according to the wishes of victims. The positive fallout of the Chief Minister's visit to Delhi is that AP Bhavan's doors were suddenly opened to accommodate the victims, giving out the impression that everything is hunky-dory. Till now, the victims pouring in from Uttarakhand were made to languish in the AP Bhavan's foyer. Later, the Chief Minister said, "The State Chief Secretary is constantly monitoring the situation and holding regular review meetings. He is in touch with those carrying out the rescue operations and the officials of the Uttarakhand Government and there will be no let up on the part of the Government, till the last person from the State is rescued and safely returned home. State Ministers D Sridhar Babu and D Nagender, besides Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment P Balram Naik are working on behalf of the State Government in organising relief works. In fact, many IAS and IPS officers from the State are also meeting me and the entire idea is to achieve better coordination in relief works." The Chief Minister said: "The State Chief Secretary is regularly in touch with the Army officials the central camp and the base camp, so that there is a constant updating and review going on. This is a human tragedy and all should desist from politicising the rescue and relief operations."
