They were protesting against N Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to allocate the Santanutalapadu Assembly seat to BJP as part of the electoral alliance.
The activists wanted to know how the decision was taken unilaterally. They even threatened to quit the party if the decision was not changed. Some said they had already resigned.
They held out threats to boycott the party programmes from Monday, while questioning the leaders whether such decisions were rewards to party men for remaining party loyalists for years.
The activists warned that they would not tolerate the party’s action in keeping the district leaders in the dark about the decision on Santanutalapadu.
The leaders were forced to lock the office and leave quietly. Angered by this the activists staged a sit-in on the road.
