New Delhi: Former APCC President V Hanumanth Rao from Amberpet, D Srinivas from Nizamabad (Rural) and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Vice-Chairman M Shashidhar Reddy from Sanatnagar figure in the 111 Telangana Congress Assembly candidates list released by the Congress High Command on Monday night.
Vijaya Shanti, who quit TRS to join the Congress, has been fielded from the Medak Assembly constituency. Vijaya Shanti, who was an MP, is understood to have expressed a desire to run for the Assembly and she is expected to be rewarded with a Ministerial berth in the event of the Congress coming to power in Telangana.
Among the former Ministers who made it this time too are D K Aruna from Gadwal in Mahbubnagar district, J Geetha Reddy from Zaheerabad and Sunita Lakshma Reddy from Narsapur.
Congress Working Committee (CWC) permanent invitee Oscar Fernandes, released the list of Telangana Congress Assembly candidates, which was approved by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Already, the party has released the names of 16 Lok Sabha candidates from Telangana. Now, the list of candidates for 111 Assembly seats has been released. The remaining seats have to be finalized soon, as the last date for the filing of nominations is April 9.
Apparently, the Congress has given only seven Assembly seats to the CPI, apart from Khammam parliamentary constituency, from where CPI State Secretary K Narayana is contesting.
