Making Modi PM detrimental to nation: Yechuri

Warangal: Making Narendra Modi the prime minister would be detrimental to the nation, CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechuri asserted here on Wednesday. ‘Everyone was singing the ‘Na Mo’ song; it was not a good tune and would not do any good to the nation. Modi was spending crores to promote himself. But he would not become PM, he pointed out.

Yechuri told an election rally here that persons were not important; policies and new ideas which could uplift the poor were important for the nation’s well being. People were eagerly looking for a strong leadership that could change their lives.

He observed that the country had wealth needed for the betterment of common people. The economic policies of both the Congress and BJP were faulty. They ‘damaged’ lives of people during the past several decades.

The CPM leader alleged that both Congress and BJP were involved in ‘match-fixing’ in terms of policies and their implementation and resorting to corrupt practices.

He appealed to people to support the Left parties and the front that would be formed after the elections. The Third Front would form the government at the Centre.

Yechuri said corruption was a cause for worry; it urgently needed to be addressed.

The BJP and Congress could not tackle the problem as their leaders were ‘involved in scams and scandals’
