‘prove charges or quit politics’

• TPCC chief accuses KCR of trafficking in women, using fake passport
• Charges his family with extorting money from businessmen
• Confident of securing SC, ST, BC and minority support

Warangal: TPCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah on Thursday dared TRS chief KCR to either prove allegations against him of land occupation or quit politics. Expressing readiness for an open debate or inquiry into the charges, he challenged Rao, if he had guts, to a debate on corrupt practices allegedly resorted to by the latter’s family members. Referring to TRS chief’s allegations of occupying assigned lands at Rampur in Warangal district, he said they were legalized and the High Court had cleared the case.

At a press conference in Hanamkonda, the TPCC president clarified that he had bought the assigned lands in 1971. They were later legalized by the government. Several petitions filed by various persons in connection with the case were dismissed by the court, he said, accusing KCR of racking up the issue with a motive to gain politically and to defame him. Laxmaiah stated that the allegations were proved wrong, as the Lok Ayukta and CBI gave a clean chit.

He accused KCR of trafficking in women using fake passports, saying he should first come clean on the charges. ‘No legal institutions cleared his name of the misdeeds”. Laxmaiah wanted TRS chief to clear the allegation of extortion of money from businessmen by his daughter K Kavitha, son K Tarakarama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao. He asserted that SCs, STs, BCs and minorities in Telangana were ready to vote for the Congress, as they wanted stable government which ensured good governance. They won’t believe in false promises made by KCR.
