Hyderabad: The BJP Seemandhra manifesto promises to develop Hollywood-like film industry in Visakhapatnam as beaches and valleys make it a perfect shooting location. “Keeping this in view we have earmarked 100 acres for developing studios like Hollywood in Los Angeles,” said former Union Minister Krishnam Raju while releasing the manifesto at the party office here on Friday. “We will develop Visakhapatnam as Los Angeles of East. The manifesto is the way to transform Seemandhra as Swarnandhra,” he added.
Prof S V Seshagiri Rao said special emphasis would be laid on infrastructure to build a robust economy in the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh. Though the State scores in irrigation, it badly lags behind in infrastructure and revenue. The manifesto makes ambitious promises like making the stretch between Visakhapatnam and Chennai as an industrial corridor, making inland water transport from Kakinada to Chennai, inter-basin transfer of Krishna and Godavari waters to provide 200 tmcft of water to Rayalaseema, and special procedures to store water from small rivers in North Andhra.
IT corridors in Rayalseema and Costal areas, developing international airports at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati and handing over Brahmani Steels to SAIL are some of the promises made in the manifesto on the infrastructure front. On the irrigation front, the manifesto says completion of Polavram is a top priority and it also promises relocation for the villages that would be submerged. Apart from 9 hours of electricity and the corpus fund, the BJP promises godowns in every gram panchayat and introduction of e-governance in the field of agriculture. It assures round-the-clock electricity in all rural areas. The manifesto also focuses on language, culture and tourism. Telugu will be made compulsory second language till Class 10. Heritage centres will be established at Kuchipudi, Kakarla and Tallapaka.
