Sushma Swaraj: Only BJP Can Develop Both States, Development of the two States is the responsibility of BJP and it will be possible only with BJP.
- She lambasts Congress for dithering on T statehood
- Delay claimed over 1,100 lives; KCR flaring up tempers
Warangal: Development of the two States is the responsibility of BJP and it will be possible only with BJP, said party senior leader Sushma Swaraj. Addressing a public meeting at Warangal, she called upon the people of Telangana to vote for the BJP-TDP candidates. While the Congress had been dithering on the issue of granting separate state of Telangana, it was only BJP which maintained a consistent stand right from the day when it passed one vote-two states resolution at Kakinada, she pointed out.
Referring to the allegation by Rahul Gandhi that the BJP had not cooperated in passing the T Bill, she said whether it was Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh or L K Advani, all were committed to separate Telangana state. But for the cooperation of the BJP, it would not have been possible for the Congress to pass the Bill, she said. Later addressing another meeting at Narsapur in Medak district, she said that Congress did not have ethical and moral right to claim that they had given Telangana Statehood. It was because of the delay by the Congress party that 1,100 people had to sacrifice their lives.
Sushma Swaraj added that Congress had deceived the people of both the regions. Lashing out at KCR, she said that being a senior politician, he should use refined language. Comments by KCR show his jealousy towards the Seemandhra region rather than determination to rebuild Telangana. “What is the point in flaring up tempers, when the State is being formed?” she questioned. BJP MLA candidates M Dharma Rao (Warangal-West), Rau Padma (Warangal- east), R Parameswar (Warangal-Lok Sabha), senior leaders T Rajeshwara Rao, P Muralidhar Rao, TDP Rajya Sabha member G Sudharani and others were present. At Narsapur meeting in Medak district, Sushma criticised that had the UPA government introduced the Telangana Bill in Parliament in time, the elections would have been held in two separate States. She faulted the Congress for blaming the delay on the other parties. The Congress could not rein in its own Members in Parliament over the Bill, she pointed out and added that it was the BJP which sincerely pushed for the Bill all along.
