New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday lashed out at the BJP, following its latest attack on Robert Vadra, describing it as “destructive, negative and shameful politics.” She vowed to face it squarely and not be cowed down by it and she declared her resolve never to hesitate to confront them. Priyanka came down heavily on the BJP, which released a video, Damad Shree, accusing the Haryana and Rajasthan Governments of colluding with Robert Vadra to help him acquire lands fraudulently.
Priyanka compared the BJP leaders to “scared thieves” running amuck and she said she expected the BJP to come up with its pack of white lies in the last lap of poll campaign.
BJP's attack came hours after Priyanka Gandhi, addressing a meeting in Rae Bareli, took a jibe at Modi, saying what was needed in a big country like India is not a 56-inch chest, as claimed by Narendra Modi, but a magnanimous heart and moral strength. “Such type of strength is needed, which could even sacrifice life to save the culture of the country,” Priyanka said.
The nearly 8-minute documentary seeks to show how Vadra was allegedly helped in his business deals by the Gandhi family using their clout.
"Someone talks about a big heart. Whose big heart helped Robert Vadra to establish his empire in such a short span with an initial investment of Rs one lakh," BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned.
Modi responded, saying, “I do not believe in politics of vendetta , but law must take its own course.”
The BJP video accused Sonia and Rahul of facilitating illegal land deals of Vadra.
BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad detailed the charges against Vadra and said Sonia and Rahul should answer the questions raised by the party. Accusing Vadra of violating land ceiling laws, the BJP asked Congress to explain the Vadra model of development.
The Congress sees a parallel with the Bofors, where the BJP used the canard for targeting late Rajiv Gandhi to reap electoral dividends and could never come up with even a shred of evidence against him. The Delhi High Court had given a rapping on the knuckles to the premier investigating agency for spending an astronomical amount for what was described as Rs 64 scam and could not produce even a shred of evidence.
The Congress said even if the Haryana has a Congress Government, what about Rajasthan, which has a BJP Government? Instead of hurling insinuations, the BJP should produce evidence and take legal action.
