Hyderabad: Going on with the General Elections in Seemandhra, as many as five villages of Koyyalagudem mandal in west Godavari district stayed away from the polls. The fuming villagers who are dissent over not including their villages under ITDA jurisdiction, have shunned the polls. The villages which have boycotted the polls are: Chechchappagudem; Vnakbotthappagudem, Marrigudem, Tangellagudem, Pillimelli.

It is worth mentioning here that the elections turned to be the critical weapon for the populace to project their problems to the concerned authorities by drawing the attention of the leaders as well as the media. One such incident happened in Gorantada village of Palakollu mandal in west Godavari district. The entire village has boycotted the Wednesday polls in protest against the implementation of the train services to their village, which has been a long pending demand.

The villagers said there was no of use giving representations to the officers and the leaders for the same. So, said the villagers that they have decided to boycott the polls, collectively.

The villagers who earn their livelihood by selling the milk and other eatables at nearby towns have been demanding for the halting of the trains at their villages, for quite some time, which was never considered so far. Bowing to the unanimous decision the entire village has boycotted the polls.
