Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency was once a stronghold of the BJP. Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya won the constituency twice but in the last two polls he lost to Anjan Kumar Yadav of the Congress. Determined to win back his constituency, Dattanna (as Dattatreya is fondly called by his supporters) is leaving no stone unturned in his campaign.
With hardly six days to go for the polls, Dattanna went on a campaign blitzkrieg on Wednesday. He along with M N Srinivasa Rao, TDP in-charge at Musheerabad, toured Dayana Market, Harinagar, Zamistanpur, Ramnagar and Adikmet which falls under the Musheerabad constituency. He interacted with bystanders, traders and locals and sought their support.
Quashing the rumours that the TDP and BJP cadre do not wish to be seen together in electioneering, Dattatreya’s rally had a strong participation of cadres from both the parties. At the Dayana Market, Dattatreya spoke to all the vegetable traders in the market and sold fish to the customers as a part of the campaign.
“There is tremendous reception from people. I never felt more confident of my chances. There is a clear Modi wave in the city which was quadrupled after his meetings in the state on Tuesday. People here are determined to defeat the Congress. They are keen on voting for the BJP,” said Dattatreya.
From Dayana Market, the campaign went through the streets of Harinagar, Zamisthanpur, Ramnagar and Adikmet. He was welcomed by women who adorned his forehead with vermilion. He later undertook door-to-door campaign in Adikmet and addressed the public briefly at Ramnagar.
