GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed Hyderabad District Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena and other senior officials to take up a special drive to create awareness about housing scheme benefits in order to motivate the beneficiaries to come forward to pay their beneficiary contribution. He advised the authorities to conduct camps at regular intervals to verify the documentation of the beneficiaries to allot the houses on priority.

Dhan Singh, engineer-in-chief, GHMC, said that most of the beneficiaries were not coming forward to pay their contribution due to some problems with bankers in providing loans. The Commissioner directed Mukesh Kumar Meena to get relevant details of bankers in order to conduct a special meeting with them to resolve the issue.

The Commissioner said that the innovative early bird scheme programme introduced recently with regard to collection of property tax had yielded good results and that the GHMC could collect Rs 111 crore in a span of 15 days. In view of the good results, the Commissioner suggested the Hyderabad Collector and engineer-in-chief to take up such innovative steps for housing also so that the beneficiaries would come forward to pay their contribution.
