Qutub Shahi Tombs Lose Guards Due To Bifurcation. The Qutub Shahi Tombs Complex, which is said to be the only revenue-generating cluster of monuments in Telangana, has been left with only a few security guards following the division of employees working at the department of archaeology and museums. There were 17 personnel all together including sweepers, gardeners and five security guards, who all are hailing from Telangana.

Due to “official bungling“, they fell victim to the 42:58 ratio of division, following which nine of them were at the appointed time transferred to the headquarters, where they are made to sit idle. And the complex is left with eight personnel, of whom only four are available for duty.

In 1996, the tombs complex was managed by 50 class IV and five class III employees. The complex spread over 114 acres has no boundary wall on its north-west, because of which people have easy access to the area. There have been cases of red sanders and other trees being cut and people trespassing to consume liquor. The employees said that the division was carried out without seeking advice from them or checking the ground realities.

“When both sides are unhappy, how can you call this a fair division,” quipped an employee.
