South Central Railway Employees Sangh held its 28th Biennial General Body Meeting at its office. It discussed several resolutions which would be discussed at the working committee meeting on June 16 and 17 including withdrawal of new pension scheme, merging DA with pay, absorption of staff working in Quasi Administrative offices or organisations to fill up vacancies immediately, resolving the deplorable condition of railway quarters, stop outsourcing and privatisation of activities in railways, appointment of wards of deceased and sick employees and ensuring time bound negotiations to settle pending issues.

Raghavaiah, general secretary, SCRE, said, “Railway ministry should take immediate action to fill 2,30,000 vacancies in all categories in the interest of efficient train operation system, efficient passenger amenities and to also reduce the burden of work on 11,70,000 employees. The sanctioned strength of the staff on all the India level is 14 lakh.”

He demanded that the Seventh Central Pay Commission on wage revision should be finalised without delay, since all the relevant papers on staff matters have already been submitted. He also requested that the wagon manufacturing plant at Kazipet be set up without further delay.
